Scott Hartnell to miss 4-8 weeks with broken foot

By Adam Gretz | Hockey writer

When we last checked in with Scott Hartnell and the Philadelphia Flyers, general manager Paul Holmgren announced that his team's leading goal-scorer from last season will be out indefinitely with a left foot injury.

Before the Flyers' game with the Rangers on Thursday, Holmgren revealed the time frame for Hartnell's return, and it's not good news. He is expected to miss 4-8 weeks with a broken metatarsal.

It's a big loss for the Flyers as Hartnell is one of their top forwards -- he was their leading goal-scorer last season -- and the team is off to an 0-3 start.

It may not yet be time to panic if you're a Flyers fan, but it's been a dreadful beginning to the 2013 season that isn't getting any better.
