Saints' Malcolm Jenkins: Returning to New Orleans
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins agreed to a contract Wednesday with the Saints, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Jenkins was in New Orleans for the first five years of his pro career before playing for Philadelphia the past six seasons. The Saints presumably intend to let free agent Vonn Bell sign elsewhere, leaving Jenkins and Marcus Williams as the projected starting duo at safety. The 32-year-old Jenkins never missed a start with the Eagles, averaging 85.8 tackles, 9.7 pass breakups, 2.0 forced fumbles and 1.8 interceptions per season.

Malcolm Jenkins: Option won't be exercised
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Eagles announced Tuesday that Jenkins' $7.85 million team option for 2020 has been declined.

The 32-year-old, who hasn't missed a regular-season game since 2013, logged 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 2019, his sixth season with the Eagles. The six-foot, 204-pound safety should have no problem catching on elsewhere in the coming days, given the durability and leadership he can bring to his next team's secondary.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Prepared to hold out
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins relayed that he won't play for the Eagles on his current deal in 2020, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.

Jenkins is scheduled to make $7.85 million in 2020 during the final year of his contract, but if he doesn't get a new deal, he doesn't plan on playing. The market for safeties is shifting, as Earl Thomas -- who turns 31 in May -- is set to make $15 million next season, and Landon Collins signed for a similar annual payout last March. Jenkins played every defensive snap in 2019 and recorded 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks, eight pass breakups and four forced fumbles.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Big tackling day in finale
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins notched nine tackles (eight solo), one defended pass and one forced fumble during Sunday's win over the Giants.

Jenkins has handled 100 percent of defensive snaps for Philadelphia this season, and he'll continue playing his every-down role in Sunday's wild-card playoff round against the Seahawks. The veteran concludes the regular season with 81 tackles (63 solo), 2.5 sacks, eight defended passes, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Records two sacks in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins logged six tackles (two solo) and two sacks in Sunday's 17-9 loss to Seattle.

After a slow start to the year, Jenkins now has all 2.5 of his sacks on the year in his last three games. He is up to 52 tackles (38 solo) on the season.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Logs seven tackles in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins recorded seven tackles (six solo) in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.

It was Jenkins' second-best game of the season in terms of tackle production, which stands to reason as he played all 74 of the Eagles' defensive snaps and a season-high 12 on special teams. He hasn't made many big plays this season, having made no interceptions while breaking up just three passes on the year.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Produces six stops
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins made six tackles (five solo) and a pass breakup in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Bills.

Jenkins hasn't left the field on defense through eight games, and he now has 37 tackles, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles on the season. The veteran safety's numbers appear to be down from last year. However, Jenkins recorded 15 more tackles over the final eight games of the 2018 season compared to the first half, so perhaps he's in line for an uptick in stops.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Paces team in tackles in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins recorded eight tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Vikings. He also defensed a pass and forced a fumble.

Sunday marked Jenkins' first game of the year with more than four tackles. Despite playing every snap on defense this season, the 31-year-old has logged just 26 tackles (20 solo). That's well off the pace of last year's 97 and more similar to his 2016 and 2017 seasons, campaigns when he logged 72 and 76 tackles, respectively.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Arrives for mandatory minicamp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins reported to the Eagles' practice facility Monday for mandatory minicamp, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Jenkins was not present for OTAs in May -- likely related to his desire for a new contract -- but his arrival for minicamp indicates he won't be holding out for a new deal. The 31-year-old has two years remaining on the four-year, $35 million extension he signed in 2016, but the spending spree at safety this offseason reset the market for the position. Jenkins has been an unquestioned leader of the defense and had 97 tackles (79 solo), one sack, one interception and three forced fumbles last season.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Skipping OTAs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins' absence from OTAs may be related to his desire for a new contract, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Jenkins has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $35 million extension, with base salaries of $8.1 million in 2019 and $7.6 million in 2020. His deal put him near the top of the market for safeties at the time of signing, but the 2019 offseason reset the market with Tyrann Mathieu, Landon Collins and Earl Thomas each getting at least $13.75 million per year and $26.8 million guaranteed, per overthecap.com. While his age likely will keep him out of that price range, the 31-year-old Jenkins hasn't shown any sign of slowing down, coming off a 2018 campaign with 97 tackles (79 solo), eight passes defensed, three forced fumbles and an interception in 16 games. He's played 98.4 percent of defensive snaps since joining the Eagles in 2014, displaying the versatility to play slot cornerback or even dime/nickel linebacker when needed. His absence won't be considered a holdout unless it extends to mandatory minicamp in mid-June.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Finishes season solidly
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins, who racked up 10 tackles (eight solo) in Sunday's 20-14 divisional-round loss to the Saints, finished the regular season with 97 tackles (79 solo), a sack, an interception and eight pass breakups.

While most of those numbers have been fairly standard for the 31-year-old over his past few seasons, the tackle total is a big jump up from the 76 he tallied in 2017 and tied for the team lead with Nigel Bradham. The Ohio State product hasn't missed a game in his five years with Philadelphia and should be locked in as the starting strong safety in 2019.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Adds 11 more tackles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins had 12 tackles (nine solo) in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Rams.

Jenkins had two tackles for loss, as the Eagles were able to force three turnovers by the Rams offense. The 30-year-old has now reached double-digit tackles in back-to-back weeks to bring his season tackle total to 88.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Totals 11 tackles in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins recorded 11 tackles (nine solo) during Sunday's 29-23 loss to the Cowboys.

Jenkins played all of Philadelphia's 99 defensive snaps, resulting in a season-high performance in single-game tackles. The veteran safety is a solid IDP play heading into a Week 15 tilt against the Rams.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Records first sack
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins had two solo tackles and a sack in Monday's win against Washington.

Jenkins had his lowest tackle output of the season but compensated for it a bit by notching his first sack of the year. The veteran strong safety had 66 tackles (53 solo) with three forced fumbles, a sack and an interception heading into next week's game at Dallas.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Grabs first interception
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins had six tackles (five solo), an interception and a forced fumble in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Jenkins showed up as a playmaker late in the second quarter as he jarred the ball loose from Bennie Fowler -- unfortunately the ball bounced out-of-bounds before being recovered. He took a field-goal attempt away two plays later when he recorded the interception. The 30-year-old has 64 tackles (51 solo), three forced fumbles and an interception through 11 games, and has another divisional matchup with the Redskins next week.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins recorded nine tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 48-7 loss to the Saints.

Jenkins -- along with Corey Graham -- led the Eagles with nine tackles, which marked a season high for the 10-year pro. He has 16 tackles over the past two weeks and will look to keep it going against the Giants on Sunday.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Should play through wrist issue
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins was a full participant at Wednesday's practice despite a wrist injury, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Jenkins was a late addition to the injury report, but his full participation should quell any major concerns. The 30-year-old was sporting a wrap/light cast on his right wrist Wednesday, but the injury shouldn't affect his availability for Sunday's game at New Orleans.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Recovered from thumb surgery
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins (thumb) was a full participant during the Eagles' offseason program, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports.

Jenkins underwent surgery on one of his thumbs in March, but the procedure was never expected to keep him sidelined for long. The veteran safety will open training camp as the leader of the Eagles secondary after averaging 84 tackles and 10 pass breakups in his four seasons since arriving in Philadelphia.

Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins: Fails to score in 2017
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jenkins finished the 2017 regular season with 76 tackles (63 solo), a sack, two interceptions and eight passes defensed across 16 games.

Jenkins played all 16 games for the fourth consecutive year. Perhaps this longevity helped get him elected to his second Pro Bowl because, statistically speaking, he virtually repeated his 2016 season. The only major difference was his failure to score a defensive touchdown, marking just the second of eight pro seasons in which he has failed to find the end zone. He is now on the wrong side of 30 and has limited upside in IDP leagues.
