The Panthers claimed Scott off waivers from the Chargers Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Scott started nine games for the Chargers last season but, surprisingly, failed to make the final roster. Expect the third-year pro to be the primary backup to Taylor Moton at right tackle.
Scott was tendered as an exclusive rights free agent by the Chargers.
Scott joined the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He has appeared in 25 games with 10 starts, nine of them coming in 2019. The Chargers also agreed to terms with veteran Bryan Bulaga on Tuesday, so it remains to be seen what Scott's role will be in 2020.
Scott was promoted to the Chargers' 53-man roster Saturday.
Scott's place on the active roster comes with Joe Barksdale (knee) already declared out for Sunday's game against the Bills. Expect Scott to serve as a depth offensive lineman in Week 2, and until Barksdale returns to the field.
