Jaguars' Laviska Shenault: Finds end zone in debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Shenault recorded three receptions on four targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Colts. He added two rush attempts for 10 yards.

Shenault recorded the first touchdown of his career late in the second quarter as he cut across the middle of the field for a 15-yard score. Reports suggested the Jaguars would look for creative ways to involve Shanault, and that was the case Sunday as he was utilized as both a rusher and receiver while playing 31 of 50 offensive snaps. Shenault will look to remain involved in Week 2 against the Titans.

Jaguars' Laviska Shenault: Ready to face Colts
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Shenault (undisclosed) isn't listed on Wednesday's injury report.

Shenault dealt with minor injuries during training camp, but his absence from the Jaguars' first report of 2020 means he'll begin his rookie season at full health. The rookie second-round pick should have an immediate opportunity to pick up snaps, as the Jaguars are lacking in established playmakers at receiver beyond top target DJ Chark. At least to begin the season, Shenault will compete with the likes of Chris Conley, Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook for snaps alongside Chark. Shenault could even have a chance to take some snaps out of the backfield after the Jaguars moved on from top rusher Leonard Fournette during training camp.

Jaguars' Laviska Shenault: Banged up a bit
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Shenault was held out of Saturday's scrimmage with a minor injury, though coach Doug Marrone said the wide receiver would've been able to play if it had been a real game, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Dede Westbrook (shoulder) also was held out, leaving DJ Chark, Chris Conley and Keelan Cole to handle most of the first-team reps at wide receiver. The Jaguars have five viable candidates for WR snaps Week 1, with only Chark appearing locked in for a full-time role. Shenault thus seems most likely to start his career as a part-time player, but reports from training camp suggest he could eventually emerge from the pack, with Reid noting that the rookie is acclimating quickly while showing an ability to play both outside and in the slot. Quarterback Gardner Minshew said he already knew Shenault was an athletic freak but has been pleasantly surprised with the second-round pick's reliable hands and route running. Apart from Chark, it's the rookie who offers real upside in the Jacksonville receiving corps, more so than Conley, Westbrook or Cole.

Jaguars' Laviska Shenault: Syncing up with Minshew
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Shenault is making a strong impression on Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew, who referred to the rookie as "a freak" and praised his route running, Michael Giardi of NFL Network reports.

Coach Doug Marrone discussed Shenault's versatility after the 2020 draft, noting that the second-round pick could even see snaps in the backfield or as a flex tight end. The path to Year 1 fantasy value probably requires a regular role at one of the three WR spots, which could be a bit tricky with Chris Conley, Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole also in the mix to see playing time alongside top dog DJ Chark. The Jaguars should find a way to get Shenault some touches, but even a strong showing throughout training camp wouldn't necessarily put him in a top-three role out of the gate.
