Falcons' Marcus Green: Muffs punt in loss to Washington
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Green brought back his one kick return opportunity for 25 yards and muffed a punt during Thursday's 19-7 preseason loss to the Redskins.

Green has done little to take hold of the starting punt returner job, tallying 16 yards on six runbacks with two fumbles (one lost) in preseason play. The giveaway against Washington may have been the proverbial last straw, as the proven Kenjon Barner is expected to return soon from an undisclosed injury that has held him out of Atlanta's past two exhibition games.

Falcons' Marcus Green: Returns from hamstring injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Green (hamstring) returned two kicks for 39 yards, three punts for 18 yards and failed to catch his lone target in Thursday's preseason game against the Jets.

Green missed the preseason opener after suffering the hamstring injury at the start of August, but he's good to go after a brief recovery. The 23-year-old will likely need to make an impact as a returner to have a real chance of making the 53-man roster.

Falcons' Marcus Green: Participates in practice
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Green (hamstring) participated in Monday's practice, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The extent of Green's participation remains undisclosed, but even if he logged a limited practice, it's a step in the right direction. The rookie sixth-round pick is recovering from a lingering hamstring issue that's been ailing him since OTAs. Green is competing to earn a role as a depth receiver and return man in Atlanta.

Falcons' Marcus Green: Injures hamstring
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Green will not return to Thursday's preseason opener versus the Broncos after injuring his hamstring, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.

This injury is especially concerning, as Green missed a chunk of OTAs due to a hamstring issue as well. Atlanta's depth at receiver makes him a fringe final roster player right now, but he has the chance to earn a spot if he can win the punt returner job over Kenjon Barner, Shawn Bane and Justin Hardy.

Falcons' Marcus Green: Returning punts
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Green returned punts during June's mandatory minicamp, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.

It's good to see Green back on the field after he missed a chunk of OTAs due to a hamstring injury. Given the depth Atlanta has at receiver, the 2019 sixth-rounder will likely need to factor in on special teams in order to make the 53-man roster out of the preseason. Green's competition at punt returner includes Kenjon Barner, Shawn Bane and Justin Hardy.

Falcons' Marcus Green: Remains sidelined at OTAs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Green (hamstring) is working with the rehab group during the start of OTAs, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.

Green is an interesting prospect given both his impressive athletic profile and his collegiate production at UL Monroe. A hamstring injury, one that prevented him from being a full participant in rookie minicamp earlier this month, has prevented him from going all out during his first few practices with the Falcons. It isn't clear when he could be fully healthy again, but when that point comes, the sixth-round rookie will be a candidate to climb as high as No. 4 on the wideout depth chart in Atlanta.

Falcons' Marcus Green: Limited during rookie minicamp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Head coach Dan Quinn said Green was withheld from full participation during rookie minicamp because of a strained hamstring, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Green will be held out until OTAs as a precautionary measure, but Quinn seemed optimistic Friday that the rookie wideout will be ready to run at full speed in the near future. During his collegiate career at Louisiana-Monroe, Green showed no signs of physical fragility, suiting up for 48 of a possible 49 games between 2015 and 2018. After setting a pace of nearly 675 receiving yards and six touchdowns per season with the Warhawks, Green might have a shot to challenge Justin Hardy for the No. 4 wide receiver job in Atlanta.

Falcons' Marcus Green: Atlanta selects in sixth round
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Falcons selected Green in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 203rd overall.

Green (5-foot-8, 190 pounds) is of course a long shot as a sixth-round pick out of Louisiana-Monroe, but there really are a lot of encouraging details in his prospect profile. He did well at his pro day, running a 4.41-second 40-yard dash while adding a 37-inch verticaland 124-inch broad jump, and his production was quite good at Monroe. In an offense that averaged 8.1 yards per pass the last two years, Green caught 104 passes for 1,667 yards and 13 touchdowns on 172 targets (60.5 percent catch rate, 9.7 YPT). As much as he's no threat to crack the top three at wideout for Atlanta, Green should make Justin Hardy nervous. The Falcons evidently might give him a look at running back otherwise.
