Bills' T.J. Yeldon: More competition for final roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon has a new teammate in the running back corps after the Bills drafted Utah's Zack Moss in the third round of this weekend's draft.

Moss won't really be competing with Yeldon per se, since the former is a lock to make the team as a high draft pick and can already be considered the No. 2 guy behind Devin Singletary. The Buffalo brass has been singing Yeldon's praises this offseason, however, even though he didn't do much in his first season with the team, running for just 63 yards on 17 carries and catching 13 balls for 124 yards. Yeldon and Singletary are the two best receiving options in the RB room, but Yeldon isn't much of a special teams player, which should ensure a spot goes to Taiwan Jones. In the end, it might come down to a battle between Yeldon and ex-rugby star Christian Wade for one of the team's final roster spots.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Sitting out Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon (coach's decision) is inactive for Saturday's playoff game against the Texans.

Yeldon played in just six games this season, so it's not much of a surprise to see him as a healthy inactive in this pivotal contest. Expect Devin Singletary and Frank Gore to see the majority of the opportunities out of the backfield Saturday.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Picks up 42 yards
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon ran for 18 yards on seven carries and added 24 yards on three catches during Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Jets.

Yeldon had accounted for just 20 touches all season, and none since Week 5, heading into Sunday, but he saw extended playing time as the Bills rested their roster with the No. 5 seed already in their grasp. Rookie dynamo Devin Singletary was among those who sat out the game. With Singletary returning for Saturday's matchup against the Texans, expect Yeldon's role to be dramatically reduced -- if he dresses at all.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: To see action
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon is not among the inactives for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Jets, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

We're not sure how much action Frank Gore will see in this meaningless finale for the Bills, but Devin Singletary is already a healthy scratch, so given Gore's age and familiarity with what he can do, there's a chance Yeldon could see some decent run just as more of an audition for next year or to see if he can be helpful for next week's playoff game in a reserve capacity.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Inactive Week 14
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon is inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.

Yeldon fought an illness during the week but returned to practice Friday, while his bigger fight has been to return to the lineup, with Devin Singletary, Frank Gore, fullback Patrick DiMarco and special teamer Senorise Perry all cemented ahead of him. Yeldon hasn't suited up since Week 5.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Back from illness
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon (illness) returned to practice Friday and will be available for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.

Yeldon missed Thursday's practice but will head into the weekend with his health intact. Considering that he's been inactive in coach's decisions since Week 5, there's no guarantee he'll suit up Week 14. The Bills seem content with Devin Singletary and Frank Gore at running back, Patrick DiMarco at fullback and Senorise Perry on special teams.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Not practicing Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon is not participating in Thursday's practice due to an illness, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.

Yeldon has been a healthy scratch for seven straight games, so even if he were forced to miss any time Buffalo's offense would emerge unscathed. Rookie Devin Singletary has emerged as the top option in the Bills' backfield, with Frank Gore serving a change-of-pace role and Senorise Perry contributing on special teams.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Remains healthy scratch Week 10
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 10 tilt against the Browns.

Yeldon will be a healthy scratch for the third straight game. Devin Singletary appears to have taken the reins of the Buffalo backfield over the last two contests, while veteran Frank Gore remains available to serve as an alternative to the rookie, leaving Yeldon without a game-day role for the time being.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Inactive for second straight game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon is listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

The veteran is out of the picture with Frank Gore and Devin Singletary both healthy. Moreover, Senorise Perry is a much better special teams player than Yeldon, leaving the latter in street clothes for the second straight week.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Makes way for Singletary
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Yeldon had a window of opportunity to make himself part of the plan while rookie Devin Singletary sat out several games with a hamstring injury, but other than a handful of targets in the passing game, he didn't do much of note while Frank Gore carried the offense. With Singletary back in action for Week 7 and having similar receiving skills as Yeldon to go with much more explosive rushing skills, and Senorise Perry having better special teams skills, Yeldon gets moved to inactive status.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Totals 28 yards
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon ran for 15 yards on two carries and added 13 yards on four catches during Sunday's 14-7 win over the Titans.

Yeldon garnered his first carry since Week 3 with rookie Devin Singletary (hamstring) out of commission, but was unable to get much traction as he put together his lowest yardage total for a game in which he earned a touch this season. Yeldon has 10 catches over his past three games, so he holds some value as a third-down back even when Singletary returns. The Titans were a tough team to slip past in the passing game. Expect Week 7's opponent, Miami, to put up less resistance.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Possible extra work in store
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon's teammate Devin Singletary has been ruled out of the Week 5 contest against the Titans due to a lingering hamstring injury.

That makes Frank Gore the clear main man in the Buffalo backfield once again, though it also means some extra work for Yeldon. The latter didn't have a carry in last week's loss to the Patriots, but he did catch all four of his targets for 68 yards, following a game Week 3 in which he had eight carries for 30 yards to go with a 2-19-0 line in the passing game. Yeldon is a reach of course, but he at least can get you some guaranteed small volume if you're completely desperate.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Involved in passing game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon didn't log a rush during Sunday's loss to the Patriots but caught all four of his targets for 68 yards.

Yeldon was the beneficiary of rookie Devin Singletary missing a second straight week with a hamstring injury, though the former will have a lesser role when the rookie -- who was back at practice last week -- returns, which could happen as soon as Week 5. This was Yeldon's best yardage game as a Bill, but he's on the far fringes of the fantasy radar as usual.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Gets 10 touches, loses fumble
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon rushed eight times for 30 yards and caught two of three targets for 19 yards while losing a fumble in Sunday's 21-17 win over the Bengals.

Yeldon filled the void left by Devin Singletary's (hamstring) absence, recording 10 touches compared to Frank Gore's 16. His fumble was a costly one, as it occurred with the Bills in the red zone late in the first half. Yeldon's calling card is his pass-catching ability out of the backfield, but that skill hasn't been needed much with Buffalo often playing from ahead en route to a 3-0 start. The team may need to pass a lot more in Week 4 if Buffalo falls behind what looks like a juggernaut Patriots squad.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Opportunity knocking
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon's teammate Devin Singletary (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Cincinnati.

That shifts Yeldon up to the No. 2 role this week. While Frank Gore could be plodding his way to 20-plus carries against the Bengals, there should be a few leftovers for Yeldon. Additionally, the latter could feature in the passing game, where he has much better skills than the 36-year-old Gore.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Opportunity coming?
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon did not register a carry or target during Sunday's win over the Giants.

That makes two straight games of no production for Yeldon, though that could change if teammate Devin Singletary's hamstring injury turns out to be anything serious. That would push Yeldon into the No. 2 spot in the game plan, a spot that could offer some opportunity given Yeldon's strong skills as a pass catcher, not to mention the other guy in front of him, Frank Gore, is 36 years old.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Takes back seat to Gore, Singletary
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon did not have a rush or a target in Sunday's comeback win over the Jets.

Meanwhile, Frank Gore had 11 carries, and rookie Devin Singletary had four. It's not surprising Yeldon would get fewer carries than those two, but he's known as the best pass-catching option of the three and yet the Bills favored Singletary in this area as well, with the latter getting six targets. Buffalo preached committee between the three running backs all week, but as was the case throughout the summer when Yeldon spent his time with the second- and third-teamers, he's a clear third in the pecking order.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Expected to have Week 1 role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said that Yeldon will have a role in the Bills' game plan Sunday against the Jets, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.

Daboll didn't offer many specifics on the nature or extent of Yeldon's involvement in Week 1, other than noting that the former Jaguar along with Frank Gore and rookie Devin Singletary will have their roles determined based on what they're able to do a "week-to-week basis." While Gore and Singletary still look like the better bets to lead the Bills in snaps and touches in the season opener, Yeldon's prospects have undoubtedly brightened following the recent release of LeSean McCoy. For now, Yeldon at least looks like the preferred pass-catching back of the trio. Singletary only nabbed six receptions in his final season at Florida Atlantic, while Gore mainly acts as an early down chain mover on the ground at this stage of his career.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Likely roster spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

With LeSean McCoy and Senorise Perry being let go by the Bills on Saturday, Yeldon appears to have made the final roster.

As it currently shapes up, Frank Gore and rookie Devin Singletary will be the main ball carriers, but Yeldon appears to be the top dog as the pass-catching, change-of-pace option. That's a much better look than possible cut following a shaky spell Yeldon had earlier in the summer.

Bills' T.J. Yeldon: Shines in passing game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Yeldon brought in three of four targets for 51 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Lions. He rushed three times for zero yards.

Yeldon's had an up-and-down summer as he tries to land a fourth roster spot amid a deep running back crew. Rookie Devin Singletary has already passed him for the No. 3 spot. If it was all about rushing, a couple of others may be ahead of Yeldon in the pecking order too, but he's got a good reputation as a pass catcher out of the backfield and that's exactly what showed Friday. His skills in that area -- which matches the Bills' plan to utilize a short passing game -- might be enough to earn him that last spot.
