Patriots' Justin Bethel: Quickly lands with New England
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Patriots signed Bethel to a contract Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Bethel was let go by the Ravens on Monday in order for them to gain a compensatory draft pick, and he found a new team quickly. Widely considered one of the best special team's players in the league, Bethel has tallied six tackles and a fumble recovery this season. He'll like assume a depth role on defense and will be a special teams mainstay for the Patriots.

Justin Bethel: Released by Baltimore
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel was released by the Ravens on Monday in order to recoup a compensatory draft pick, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports. "That's tough for us because, I told him, I think he's the best special teams player in the NFL, and he's playing that way," said head coach John Harbaugh. "So that's going to be a blow, and we're going to have to find a way to overcome that."

Bethel, who has tallied six tackles and a fumble recovery across seven games, will save the Ravens a fourth-round compensatory pick following his release. A special-teams standout, the veteran probably won't have to wait long to find a new home.

Ravens' Justin Bethel: Signs with Baltimore
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel and the Ravens agreed on a two-year deal Friday.

Bethel spent the first six years of his career with the Cardinals before appearing in 14 games with the Falcons last season. Per usual, special teams will presumably be the focus for the three-time Pro Bowler, while he'll also provide depth at cornerback.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Spurs special teams improvement
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel recorded 12 solo tackles and two assisted tackles for the Falcons in 2018.

Bethel dealt with an early season knee issue that held him out of game action for Weeks 4 and 5 after he suited up for 99 consecutive contests to begin his NFL career. He was completely obsolete defensively in his debut campaign with the Falcons, fielding zero defensive snaps after logging 452 last year with Arizona. Bethel did, however, help transform the Falcons' struggling kick coverage unit from 32nd in 2017 (26.2 yards allowed per return) to 15th with 22.7 yards allowed per return in 2018.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Clear of injury designation
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (ankle) won't carry an injury designation into Monday's game against the Giants, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.

Bethel returned from the ankle injury Week 6 and is good to go after being a full practice participant Friday and Saturday. The 28-year-old should serve his usual role as a depth corner and special teams ace Monday night.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Limited in practice Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (ankle) was a limited participant in Friday's practice, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Bethel suited up during Atlanta's win over the Buccaneers in Week 6 after missing two consecutive games, and continues to recover from a lingering ankle injury. The special teams ace's status for Monday's game against the Giants remains uncertain, but expect more clarity on Bethel's availability following Saturay's injury report.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Listed on Thursday's injury report
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice session, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

An essential component to the Falcons kickoff and punt coverage units, Bethel returned from a two-game absence by suiting up for Atlanta's Week 6 game against Tampa Bay, recording three combined tackles in a 34-29 win. Bethel's presence on the roster has helped Atlanta improve from 32nd in kickoff return yards allowed per attempt in 2017 to 20th thus far this season. The Falcons hope to have the special teams ace in the lineup on Monday night, facing a Giants kickoff return team that ranks 12th in the NFL with 24.1 yards per attempt.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Will play Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (knee) was cleared from the injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Will McFadden of AtlantaFalcons.com reports.

Bethel will be good to go Week 6 after returning to full participation at Friday's practice, having missed the Falcons' past two games with a knee injury. Bethel figures to see a majority of his snaps come on special teams in this divisional matchup.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Working way back onto field
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (knee) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

After sitting out Atlanta's past two games, the veteran special teams ace has a shot to get back on the field for a pivotal NFC South showdown against Tampa Bay. The Falcons' coverage unit would be delighted to get Bethel back Sunday, as it aims to hold down a Buccaneers squad that ranks last in the NFL with 15 yards per kickoff return in 2018.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Ruled out for Week 5
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.

Bethel will be sidelined for a second consecutive game due to the minor knee issue that has hampered him since Week 3, but the Falcons will primarily only miss him on special teams. The reserve cornerback has yet to play a defensive snap this season, although the early portion of his 2018 campaign was highlighted by a three-tackle performance in Week 2 against the Panthers.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Does not partake in practice
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (knee) was sidelined for his fifth straight practice Thursday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

The veteran special teams ace has been hampered by a bum knee over the past two weeks, as Atlanta is surrendering 29.2 yards per kick return in Bethel's absence, compared to 23 yards per return prior to his injury. The Steelers, Atlanta's Week 5 opponent, has excelled on punt returns (10th in the league at 10.1 yards per attempt), but ranks 10th-worst in the NFL with 19.8 yards per kickoff return.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Ruled out for Week 4
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (knee) is ruled out for Week 4's game against the Bengals, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Bethel exited last Sunday's loss to the Saints due to a knee injury and still remains sidelined. The depth cornerback has only logged special teams snaps this season, so Bethel's absence isn't likely to have a large impact on Atlanta's defense.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Dealing with knee injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (knee) did not participate in Wednesday's practice session, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Bethel has helped shore up the Falcons' kickoff coverage, as the team has gone from dead-last in yards surrendered per kick return -- 26.2 yards allowed per return last year -- to a respectable No. 13 ranking (22.2 yards) through the first three games of 2018. The former Cardinal has yet to see a defensive snap on the young season, but he may find himself in such a situation soon given the laundry list of injuries that the Atlanta secondary has sustained thus far this season. That is, if Bethel himself isn't put on the shelf for an extended period with this newfound concern over his knee.

Falcons' Justin Bethel: Departs with injury Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel left Sunday's game against the Saints with a knee injury and is questionable to return, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Bethel has only played on special teams this season. He has three solo tackles on the year.

Justin Bethel: Joins Falcons
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel agreed to a deal with the Falcons on Saturday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Bethel recently visited with the Falcons, rendering this move relatively unsurprising. He logged 14 starts at cornerback for the Cardinals in his first six seasons, compiling four interceptions, but his main contributions were through special teams. Thus, the veteran corner figures to help provide depth in the secondary with the Falcons, while also playing an ace role on special teams.

Justin Bethel: Visits with Falcons
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel and the Falcons met at the team's facility Tuesday afternoon, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Bethel would offer improved depth at cornerback if he were to sign with Atlanta, but perhaps more significantly, he would provide the team with an ace on special teams. In six seasons with Arizona, Bethel logged 14 starts at cornerback, intercepting four passes and returning three for touchdowns. More notably, he earned three consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl between 2013 and 2015 due to his impact on special teams.

Cardinals' Justin Bethel: Earns starting role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Head coach Bruce Arians said Thursday that Bethel has locked down the starting cornerback spot opposite Patrick Peterson, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. "He's earned that job," Arians said.

The gig is one of the most coveted due to the presence of Peterson, whose lock-down status forces quarterbacks to pick on the other corner. Last year, Bethel's recovery from foot surgery derailed his chances, and training-camp acquisition Marcus Cooper took full advantage of the opportunity, parlaying a 69-tackle, four-interception campaign into a three-year, $16 million deal with the Bears. Bethel will aim to do the same due to his own unrestricted free agency next offseason.

Cardinals' Justin Bethel: Closing in on starting job
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel is the top candidate to start opposite Patrick Peterson this season, Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports. "The biggest thing is body language," head coach Bruce Arians said of Bethel on Tuesday. "You saw that in practice last year. Frustration. ... Now it's totally different."

Bethel's nearly two-year pursuit of the starting gig has been wrought with injuries, which actually reared their head in the early portion of training camp. With a hyperextended knee a thing of the past, he's beginning to lock down his long-coveted role. Although second-year pro Brandon Williams and veteran Tramon Williams are also a part of the competition, Bethel seems on pace to lock down the job by Week 1.

Cardinals' Justin Bethel: Returns in full Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (knee) was "full speed" at Tuesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. "It was great to see [Bethel] today," head coach Bruce Arians said.

On Monday, Arians said that Bethel would miss another week of practice, but just one day later, the cornerback was back in action after a few absences. Expect Bethel to take a seat, along with the other starters, during Thursday's Hall of Fame Game versus the Cowboys. Thereafter, he'll continue to pursue the starting cornerback spot opposite Patrick Peterson.

Cardinals' Justin Bethel: Returns to practice Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bethel (knee) took part in practice Tuesday, Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports.

Sidelined since Friday due to a hyperextended left knee, Bethel was expected to miss another week of practice, as of Monday, during which he ran sprints on a side field, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. The latter development forecast his return Tuesday, but he'll nonetheless take a seat in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game like the rest of the starters, per Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site. Once the team reconvenes, Bethel will continue his pursuit of the starting CB job opposite Patrick Peterson.
