Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Heading to Washington
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer agreed to a three-year, $13.5 million contract with the Redskins on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The 26-year-old guard agreed to terms with Washington a few short hours after Ereck Flowers signed a $30 million deal to join the Dolphins. Washington's offensive line has dealt with a rash of injuries and unfortunate circumstances over the past two seasons, but the team now acquires a player who has missed just two contests over his past 48 possible outings while allowing only two sacks on 504 pass block snaps in 2019 (per Pro Football Focus).

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Set to hit free agency
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer is not expected to re-sign with the Falcons prior to the start of free agency, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 26-year-old guard suited up for 15 of Atlanta's 16 regular-season contests during 2019, but he started just seven of them after starting 29 of his first 31 NFL appearances between 2017 and 2018. Schweitzer has only played for the Falcons since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2016 draft out of San Jose State, but he'll now be afforded an opportunity to hit free agency and potentially find a new home elsewhere.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Forced to leave game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer (shoulder) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Panthers, Jason Butt of The Athletic reports.

Schweitzer was in line to register his fourth start of the season for Week 14, but picked up the shoulder issue. As long as the San Jose State pick is sidelined, look for either Matt Gono or John Wetzel to be deployed as the team's left guard.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Could start again Week 14
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer was listed as the Falcons' starting right guard on Tuesday's official depth chart, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 26-year-old lineman registered his third start of the season Thanksgiving night against New Orleans, as Atlanta's coaching staff elevated him above Jamon Brown in an effort to revitalize a struggling front five. With Chris Lindstrom (foot) having returned to practice Monday and now within his 21-day window for activation from injured reserve, Schweitzer may get in a couple more starts to wrap up 2019, but he very likely is not the Falcons' long-term answer at either guard spot.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Sheds injury tag
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer (concussion) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Panthers, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Schweitzer practiced without limitations Friday, and he's managed to fully clear the league's concussion protocol. The 26-year-old will play his usual reserve role along the offensive line against the Panthers on Sunday.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Ruled out Week 10
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer (concussion) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints, Jason Butt of The Athletic reports.

Schweitzer started the week as a limited practice participant but was unable to practice Thursday, so it's not a major surprise that he won't be available. The 26-year-old will need to fully clear the concussion protocol before returning to action.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Unable to go Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer (concussion) did not participate during practice Thursday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.

The veteran offensive guard was downgraded from limited involvement Wednesday to a scratch during Thursday's session, casting doubt on his potential to suit up for Sunday's game against the Saints. Schweitzer has not missed a game yet in 2019, but his status remains uncertain as the injury-depleted Falcons' offensive line prepares to face a New Orleans front seven that averages three sacks per game and ranks fourth in rush defense at the midpoint of its regular-season slate.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Emergency center for Week 5
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer (shoulder) was a limited participant for the Falcons' practice session Wednesday, but he may to slide over to center if Alex Mack (elbow) is unable to play Sunday against the Texans, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Mack suffered the injury during Atlanta's Week 4 loss to Tennessee but was able to return to the game after evaluation, fielding 92 percent of the offensive snaps in total. Schweitzer, meanwhile, fielded 80 percent of the snaps Week 3 against Indianapolis, but faded into a backup role Sunday against the Titans as Jamon Brown garnered 88 percent of the action at right guard. Brown is now dealing with a concussion and missed Wednesday's session, so if Mack does play, it's possible Schweitzer starts at guard instead.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Won't play Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer (back) was ruled out for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Schweitzer was a non-participant at practice this week, so this was to be expected. Ben Garland or Matt Gono should step in at left guard for the Falcons in the season finale.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: Misses second straight practice
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer (back) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Coach Dan Quinn stated Thursday that he's not sure of Schweitzer's availability for Sunday's tilt against Tampa Bay. An absence in the season finale would open the door for Ben Garland to register his fifth start of the season. There also remains a possibility that undrafted rookie Matt Gono gets the nod for his first career start if Schweitzer can't go.

Falcons' Wes Schweitzer: To start in place of Levitre
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schweitzer is listed as Atlanta's starting left guard on the team's most-recent depth chart, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 2016 sixth-round pick will step in for the injured Andy Levitre (triceps), who head coach Dan Quinn announced Tuesday will be down for the season. Schweitzer lost out to Brandon Fusco on the starting gig at right guard during the preseason after starting all 16 games for the Falcons last year. He'll now be re-inserted into the starting lineup against a Saints pass rush that tied for the seventh-most sacks in 2017.
