Chiefs' Anthony Sherman: Committed to Kansas City
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sherman is re-signing with the Chiefs on a one-year deal, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.

The Pro Bowl fullback serves primarily as a blocker in the Chiefs' potent offense, as he only toted the rock four times for nine yards and added two catches for 22 yards across 16 regular-season games last season.

Chiefs' Anthony Sherman: Logs four carries in 2019
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sherman carried the ball four times for nine yards and had two catches for 22 yards across 16 regular-season games in 2019.

Sherman served as the Chiefs' top fullback during the 2019 season, doing most of his damage on offense as a blocker. He also played a key role on special teams, logging 310 snaps during the regular season. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent in March, but the team could be motivated to come to terms on a deal that would bring him back for an eighth season in Kansas City.

Chiefs' Anthony Sherman: Staying in KC
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sherman is signing a one-year contract to stay with the Chiefs, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Sherman has played seven consecutive 16-game seasons as the top fullback in Kansas City, but his workload bottomed out at 98 offensive snaps in 2018. He did catch eight of nine targets for 96 yards and a touchdown, while his 345 snaps on special teams ranked second on the Chiefs.

Chiefs' Anthony Sherman: Snap count dips in 2018
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sherman took the field for just 99 offensive snaps in 2018, recording one carry for two yards and eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Sherman's massive decline in utilization during 2018 could be a signal that the Chiefs will let the veteran fullback walk when he hits free agency this offseason. He still contributed on special teams, playing 344 snaps, so there will likely be a home for him somewhere in the NFL next season.

Chiefs' Anthony Sherman: Records third career touchdown reception
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sherman hauled in his only target for a 36-yard touchdown in Sunday's regular-season opener against the Chargers.

Sherman doesn't figure to have much of a role on offense for the Chiefs this season, seeing only 17 offensive snaps in the contest. He had just 20 touches all of last season, leaving him well off the fantasy radar as the lead blocker for Kareem Hunt and Spencer Ware.

Chiefs' Anthony Sherman: Staying in KC
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sherman has reached agreement on a new contract with the Chiefs, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Sherman has served as the Chiefs' lead blocker since 2013, recording only 47 catches and 19 carries despite playing every game. He took 14 carries in a meaningless Week 17 game against Denver, but it'll be back to a limited blocking role in 2018. Kareem Hunt probably appreciates the re-signing, even though the Chiefs rarely use a fullback outside of the red zone.

Chiefs' Anthony Sherman: Forced into carrying duties in Week 17
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sherman toted the rock 14 times for 40 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's regular-season finale against the Broncos.

A fullback by trade, Sherman had not carried the ball more than twice in a season, let alone a game, since entering the league before Sunday's contest. It was more a result of circumstance than anything else and he should not be expected to repeat that volume anytime in the future, barring another similar scenario.

Dolphins' Reshad Jones: Not ready for training camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jones (undisclosed) was placed on the active/non-football injury list Wednesday.

Jones, who signed a massive five-year, $60 million extension with the Dolphins in March, is not ready to join the team on the field quite yet. He missed the final 10 games of last season with a torn rotator cuff, which could be what's affecting him at the moment. The team is likely exercising caution with the safety in order to ensure his health as the season inches closer.

Chiefs FB Anthony Sherman got less action in Week 2
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman saw just ten offensive snaps in Thursday's game against the Broncos.

Sherman saw a dramatic drop in snaps from 25 in Week 1 to 10 in Week 2. Given the lack of production out of the fullback spot, it shouldn't have too much impact on his fantasy value, but it could be an indicator that the Chiefs plan to move in a different direction offensively.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

The Chiefs have announced a contract extension for fullback Anthony Sherman that will keep him off the free agent market after this season. The length of the deal has yet to be revealed.

The 25-year-old Sherman has participated in all 24 games since joining the team before the 2013 season, but has served mostly as a blocker for stud featured back Jamaal Charles. He has just two carries and five receptions this year.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman caught both of his targets for 12 yards and a touchdown in Week 7's 23-20 win over the Chargers.

Sherman hauled in what appeared to be a rough attempt at a fullback screen early in the fourth quarter, but he was abe to evade tacklers and barrel into the end zone for an 11-yard score. He entered the game with just 21 yards on four touches and no scores. The Chiefs face the Rams in Week 8.

by Chris Towers | Fantasy Writer
