Wolves' J.J. Barea fined $5,000 for flopping

By Royce Young | NBA writer

It was only a matter of time. Like the tide coming in or the sun rising, J.J. Barea was eventually going to get fined by the league for flopping.

The NBA announced Monday that Barea has been hit for a $5,000 fine for his second flopping offense. It came Jan. 14 against the Mavericks.

Barea was one of the first players warned by the league back on Nov. 5. In a game against the Kings he exaggerated contact with Jimmer Fredette throwing his head back to embellish minimal contact.

Barea is only the third player to be fined, joining Gerald Wallace and Reggie Evans. So far 12 total players have been warned.

The next flop by Barea (that's caught) will cost him $10,000.
